EA Acquires Halo Co-Creator's Studio, Industrial Toys

Industrial Toys, a developer primarily known for mobile games, has been acquired by Electronic Arts.

The studio was founded in 2012 after its CEO Alex Seropian left Disney studios. Seropian is a long time veteran of the game industry, having founded Bungie in 1991 and famously working on the Marathon and Halo. He left Bungie shortly after Halo: Combat Evolved released partly due to frustration with the process of game development.

Industrial Toys' mission statement is to bring core games to mobile and attract that audience to a platform commonly known for casual affairs. It is unknown what projects EA has acquired the fourteen-person studio to work on, but the publisher has never shied away from mobile releases.

This seems more than likely to be an acquisition for mobile games, but considering how Industrial Toys has been trying to get first-person shooters to work better on phones, I suspect EA plans to use them specifically for that know-how.
