You Blew it! - Everything Wrong with Family Couch Gaming...

The painful feeling when someone's watching you is just so unenduring. A lot of gamers have to deal with their games alone and handle their defeat alone. Notice how I said alone. Hello Wandering Traveler and welcome to another thought blog!

You know those friends and family members are when they watch you play, it's sometimes annoying. Your mom tells you to stop dying, you dad asks why you suck, your brother telling to do something else, your sister making fun of you while you die constantly, and your friends hide a chuckle as they watch the feud take place. If you are an adult that doesn't have to live you family anymore, then you probably don't know what I'm complaining about. Us young gamers (Yes, I went there) always face this, even if we try to plan an event to avoid the.

If you are a lucky teen, then you probably love Dark Souls, but hate it when you parents insist on watching you play it. Many players experience loud outbursts of "You Blew it!" or "You Almost Had Him!" as they play. And then, if it's possible with you family, comes the complaining. Parents say this game looks too hard and tries to convince you to sell it or tell you that the game has too OP enemies. Tip to the players, acquire more Estus Flasks before you play in front of your family.

If your mother and/or father doesn't know of the gore in the game genre, then they might have bought the game Mortal Kombat or other games without any second thought. Once you plop the disc in, your parents are at a distant gaze and you siblings are amazed of how much blood the human body can contain. You mom shields her eyes as you do a fatality or perform a headshot. Your father gasps as you fire on an enemy without a thought. And your siblings ask to play the game after witnessing what you had just done. Then, your parent prevent you from playing these types of games ever again. Tip to the players, your parents are sometimes sensitive.

Most people don't like to see you die constantly. Like I said last time, parents don't like to see you die, so I won't dig deep on that. What parents like to do most of the time is say you suck. Many would kid, but some would like to put it out there. Words like "You should try something different" and "Stop using that gun" continue to come up.

Other than your parents commanding you to try something new, you are told to play something else when they don't realize this is how most multiplayer matches start out like, death and despair. Most would ignore our parents commands on what we play, but who wants the power yelp our fathers give us and the screech out mothers tame us with?

Besides all that I explained, there are games that are for the family to watch, games with a wide story or a funny outlook on you terrible failure and excitement of success. Games made by Telltale Games are a good example to a good time with the family. And RPG's such as Skyrim or Fallout are great to experience with the family. And even a rage game like Super Meat Boy can give a good laugh to you parents as you scream and overreact. Don't deny it. You sometimes call Meat Boy a clumsy b*tch and blame your failure on him.

As many would say, family is where the heart can break and where it can be put together. And 'til next time...
