A long time ago, back in the 3rd generation of gaming, actual competition between consoles, NES and the Sega Genesis. There was something that really separated the two with actual differences that made them what they were. Hello Wandering Traveler and welcome to this little talk on console gaming.

Remember when there was that competition between Sega and Nintendo? That was the beginning of console wars. In the 80's there was a big difference between the two and it was the price. The NES was cheap while the Genesis was worth an arm and a leg. Through the ages, that was the core reason why the games from Sega was so low while Nintendo was winning the sales competition.

Then once Sony parted from Nintendo, there was the birth of a new console war. The Playstation became the  best selling console on the market and taunted Nintendo for not letting them be independent on their project together. Soon, other consoles started the whole Disc thing as Sony did hoping to gain the same fame. That did not work. Sega failed. PC gaming was a bit bad at the time with discs and Nintendo saw the consequences and left that idea alone.

As soon as the Disc problem was sorted, there were more than one console to choose from. You could buy the PS2, the Gamecube, Xbox or the Dreamcast and almost had the competition in the Console wars destroyed. Turns out the only ones that stood tall were the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox. The Dreamcast ended it's fight in the war after 2 or 4 years of it's release in America. Ultimately, the PS2 and Xbox stood tall as Gamecube was put aside.

As soon as the 360 and the PS3 came to be, the war began with only two competitors on hand. I mean there was the Wii, but it became a flop 3 years later. Anyways, the two consoles became the start of the console wars of today. Nintendo and Sega was out of the fight and shook hands while PS3 kept attacking the 360. This war became more than just a debate, but into a fighting conversation. If you lived in big cities and wanted to pre-order these consoles, you and the competitors would be screaming at you. Sometimes, fights would break loose as more and more arguments came to be.

That was then. Now? Well, the war is still going while Nintendo watches with a smile and Sega trying to get back into it. I was never in this war. I had the Gameboy as a kid while I played my dad's Genesis when ever I got home from school. It just seemed stupid to me. Well, enough of me. The consoles today, aren't so different. I mean there are some minor differences, but between which is better is harder now. I mean, you can't compare the graphics between the consoles because there are some many little differences that can't really be seen at first glance. There is the controllers, but who cares about that? Most players care about the games on the consoles themselves than the controllers. You can look at the games they have exclusively, but which has better ones? And even if you can decide on that, which would you prefer? A console that allows you to play last gen games? Or a console that allows you to play 5th gen games, but rent last gen games for a short time with a wild price? There are differences, but some don't really overlap each other. Most might say the PS4 is way better, while most others will say the same with the Xbox when there are hardly anything to compare harshly to! They are both great, but which would I want more. Good thing I settled with the both of them instead.

I'm done here... I hope you guys aren't going to start a war in the comments. Well, anyways, I'm going to stick to PC right now and show you guys this meme and leave...
