Everything Wrong with Battlefield 1

Once upon a time, there was once a groups of video games that was WWII. They were all loved and like to make more. So much was given to us about WWII that we all got sick of it. almost a decade later after the last WWII game like CoD, we got Battlefield 1. It was the first of it's kind to actually give the community something about the old days we never seen before. Everyone loved the damn game to death, but there was one kid that dislikes the game. Hello and welcome to another hated thought blog.

I got this game along with a deal that gave me Titanfall 2, a game I so adore, and actually got to play the other game it came with. The first the game starts with is the campaign without the player deciding whether or not he wants to play that. It gives some insight of the war and how much it was to live in the trenches. Not just sitting there, waiting for your opponent to attack first, but with some accurate battles, it shows the allies advancing to push the trenches back to German territory. It's awesome to be told "You are not expected to survive," since most games just throw you in the thick of battle and have you live. This prologue has the player go throw the impossible with enemies spawning in and never die. Although, it was annoying when the game decided you should die, the game removes hit boxes so the player won't have a record of how long they lived in the prologue or something. I know that it's suppose to put some tension on what the war was like, but it doesn't make me feel like I'm in battle, I feel like the game is glitching, not a scripted event.

And the thing that everyone talked about, the death sequence, was awesome in the prologue. "What are you going to say, StarterPack? That it was bad?" No, the fact that you are just a foot soldier, not an impossible-to-kill protagonist is awesome. It's just that the game didn't use it well after the prologue. Seeing the character's name shown on the screen, his date of birth and death is a hitting moment. The game itself after the beginning still uses the Date of Birth and Death, but doesn't use the loss of a soldier. I know games like this don't usually use Perma-death, but I think the game would have lots of replayability with the end of a soldier's mission and beginning a new one. It would be cool as well, seeing how players finish the game with what character and how he plays the game. That would be awesome! And even if they could put some management in the game where you have to make sure every soldier in you squad doesn't die, but I can't see that being better than my previous idea.

I do like how the game allows the player to replay the missions on hard or easy without loss of progress on the played mission or losing progress in the entire game at all. It's a well done feature and not many game do or do well. Kudos to you EA. You finally did something right.

Now to move on to gameplay, the core gameplay is like the other Battlefields out there, but is different. I like how the game allows the player to go about the in different ways: you can sneak your way to victory or get the biggest gun and Rambo your way to success! It is good to know that each way is difficult to accomplish. I got caught a few times and died and tried to Rambo it, but then got snuck up on by a Flamethrower guy.

And just to say, Flamethrowers weren't a primary weapon for the troops that fought in WWI. Trust me, I just finished WWI in history. That was the trick question on each test. I actually asked my teacher about this and he said it wasn't mass produced like Hand Grenades or Machine Guns. It was mainly a street sweep that would soon end in suicide explosion. Just a little pet peeve I have.

Anyways, the rest of the game is a bit strange if you look at it. The AI can be stupid at times. I mean, I tried luring a guy in a building and kept walking to the other side of it and got stuck in a wall. Although, the sneak mechanics are good, sometimes you can see the AI aren't built for it.

I like how the sprint mechanics aren't like most games where it's limited to the player, like CoD. The Bayonet sprint is confusing to me. I hear pros of the game use it to run faster and, in case of random encounter, stab anyone in cover, but I see no difference in speed. It feels like it, but I don't see any difference compared to the default run. I don't like the grenade throw much since they are like baseballs compared to what I'm use to. Either my guy has a wimpy arm or these things are more arrow dynamic. I like it, but I keep forgetting that it's not like other games!

And the one thing I hate about the campaign is how the radar is just a mini-map. I know, it's suppose to be accurate, but this is a game. Put the enemies on the damn thing! I kept ending up looking for the enemy and getting lost looking for him. I know, you can say that marking them helps, but I have to look for them to do that.

Now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk about the Multiplayer. It feels like any other out there, but with destroy-able terrain and a bigger player roster. I can see the game getting better with a few updates, or in EA's case, DLC's, but they all feel so generic. There is Cap the Point (The mode that no one will let go) and Cap the Flag. You can do a team death match with the Battlefront classic, Rush, where you push enemy lines and make sure you push the enemy team to retreat. Although, it sounds fun, but gets old. I know that there aren't very many creative people behind EA, but can someone introduce new game modes? Titanfall did it and the game was hated because it didn't have a campaign!

The classes you can be have been improved from the Beta and have some nerfs I'm glad they made. I hardly see players try to do a tank house or anything and the community likes to be funny. If you nod no to a player in a tank, they might leave without killing you. The one thing I'm glad about is the Calvary Class. It use to be able to take out many players at once, now the class is forced to hide like every other player in enemy lines. And speaking of which, I love how the Rifles are manually cocked. Yeah, laugh you immature dweeb. I said cocked. It really forces the player to get out of aiming and relocate the target, unlike other games that do it for you.

The one thing I want to talk about it the medal system. It's a directive the player is give to accomplish within a day or a few hours. Each one are challenging and hard to accomplish, but seeing that you have to spend at least a day to earn all three medals seems pointless. I can at least get one of them without wasting my time for homework and chores. I would like to see the medal system fixed where your selected one doesn't randomize after the time resets. I want to do this and it's my goal in the game. I don't want to lose it and start over tomorrow of which I barely have time to waste on the game.

And the boxes are great for now. They aren't microtransactions yet, but you have to have war bounds to buy one and open it. It's still a randomized prize winner and there are barely any skins to like in the game, so the point of doing such a thing is pointless. I know they are trying to be accurate to the time line, but if you look at, the game is barely as such with the gameplay, so why do that?

Anyways, I kind of like this game? I don't know I'm an "If" on the game. I would recommend this to other people, but not for the multiplayer. Anyways, I hope you liked this and somewhat agree with me, anyways 'til next time...
