Everything Wrong with Battlefront

I remember the days when I was happy to hear a long awaited sequel. Now it's a feared moment to see if the developers did a good job or not. I believe this started it, but when Battlefront came out, the public was excited. The Beta was fun and the inclusion of a single player/co-op game mode was amazing. We couldn't wait to see what they were going to deliver! When we got it, we just bought the Beta instead. Hello and welcome to this late thought blog.

I was surely excited for this game. It was a Star Wars game that would define today and I thought it would be fun to see my dreams come to life in full 4k HD. My sister got the game along with the PS4 bundle and I could not wait to see what the game had to offer. Time had past since it released, so I made sure this was a genuine experience for me. Not interested in the Multiplayer, I went straight to the single player. Wait... There isn't one... Just practice.

What I think is funny is how much potential these "Practice" modes had. The flight training was fun and it felt like I was play Rogue Squadron again! Invasion felt like Republic Commando in a nutshell, but without the strategic planning. Playing as Darth Vader felt so fun and reminded me of the Jedi Academy days. Why put so much heart in these modes when you're not going to expand upon it? It just feels like a waste of time. What is ironic is how it's called Practice and how most shooters these days have Campaigns that are just Multiplayer Trainers. Are you trying to say something EA?

I was surely disappointed and of course angry. Instead of trying to pass the time in Practice, I went to Multiplayer to test how good it was. At first, it was a fun experience. I mean, there was a few glitches here and there, but mostly good gameplay. Well, that all ended with this so called "Patch." The patch unreasonably debuffed every hero, made some of the best weapon crap and to get all those debuffs gone, you had the buy the $50 dollar season pass. A cheap move to raise sales and made EA look more like a Parasite.

They soon began to expand the game with new maps, heroes and weapons, but who is going to buy an overpriced, virtual item. Each one was in an overpriced bundle that just didn't seem worth it and it doesn't really add much to the game. I mean, some of the maps might change the gameplay, but why send all your hope on this map that might be a waste of money?

To move on, the gameplay is kind of strange to me. The ability cards are strangely not a class item, but instead a side arm. You have to work your ass off to get the Jet-Pack ability to actually play the real game! I know it adds some reason to come back to the game, but I the game doesn't really give me much to enjoy to keep working for this item I've been wanting since I got it. I think they should have made some classes instead of customizable player slot, it would have been a lot better to have the ability and upgrade from there.

The weapons feel fine as long as you can feel the rhythm for them, the radar is like every other one where they show you which direction the enemy is in and the customization I hate! Not the weapon sets or anything like that, I mean customizing the character! Each one is just a different face for every ethnicity and a few Star Wars related characters. I mean, you could have done some more with the customization, but instead left us with the half-assed version of what you could have done better on. I mean, it's cool to see a person of you race, but if you don't like the way he looks and want to change it, it feels very meaningless.

The only balanced things, I think, is the vehicles. The Chicken Walkers have a nice feel to them and the At-Ats are fun to play as. I mean, you feel like a god with a mighty hammer among the weak. Every TIE Fighter and Republic air ship is so fun to use. The only one I have a problem with is the grass speeders. They move to fast to the small spaces in the map and feel to flimsy to anyone who use it. The main use for the vehicle is just to troll people by running people over or pushing them into a corner. It's a real annoying vehicle that needs to be fixed and needs to be better adjusted to the maps it's displayed in.

Well, this is a late blog, but I needed to see what the game is after the developers are done with it. I hope you enjoyed this and if you don't agree with me, let's discuss this in the comments. I like a little debate from time to time and 'til next time...
