Everything Wrong with the Nintendo Switch

Oh, Nintendo, you gave us some of the strangest consoles ever. The NES was a perfect little device, the SNES was a major improvement, the 64 was strange, the Gamecube was loved by very few. Then the Wii came with poor motion controls. People kind of prefered the Gamecube when Twilight Princess came out. Then you gave us the Wii U, the console to right your wrongs with the Wii and it's awful name. It didn't. Barely met what we wanted fixed with the Wii. Now, you're trying again with the new Nintendo Switch and yet you gave us a poor launch. Hello and welcome to this soon to be hated thought blog.

Now, to tell everyone, I don't have a Switch. Yep, tell me up all you want. Call me the bleb of Nintendo and all that, but my friend has one and she invited me to play some games with her. She said she and her Dad spent over $700 on the console with some controllers and joycons. They both thought it was worth it. I could see that, the console is much better with some extra stuff. The first game we played was what it came with, 1-2 Switch. We tried to enjoy it, but it just felt awkward most of the time. Milking the Cow was a strange thing to add to a game. No one is going to make Dick jokes out of that! Then there was the Posing game. It was awkward. Just do a pose and the other copies it. I don't know how this is a mini-game. It's just make a funny pose and the other has to copy. And they grade you how spot on you are. How are we suppose to win this? If you're an awkward introvert, this is not the game for you. And if you don't feel comfortable about staring at people, you won't have fun.

The only game we could enjoy was Quick Draw. Is that the real name? I don't know. Anyways, it was fun and simple. Just be quick about the draw and make sure you fire at your opponent. It will even make fun of you if you "shoot the dirt." I would have to say that was a fun game. Then we started Super Bomberman R.

A game that would revive and hype fans of the game all over the world! It is fun at first then it turns into a mediocre game of wait. When you play locally, you are forced to play with CPU's if you don't have enough players. They are the stupidest AI I have ever seen. They just plant bombs wherever they can and don't care if a player is in front of him! And the time takes so long! It says a minute, but watching these guys fight like pigs in the mud feels like an eternity! It's almost like watching a CPU battle in Smash, just bet who would win. That would be the only fun you would have in the game, well until the time runs out. If you ask me, the game isn't fun.

We thought we would take a break from the multiplayer games, so we just put in the game's only major title: Breath of the Wild. I was just going to watch, but I thought the experience should be her's. We started the game, then an Error has Occurred. It kept happening, but it eventually played. She puts the screen in the console charging station we call TV Mode, and started the adventure. As soon as the music hit us and beautiful imaging showed, we almost let out a tear. We are both fans of the series and we waited for this game for so long. We started to play and the screen just turned into video lines. You know, like those pixels you see in a TV with that huge back? This happened after we did the prologue and we were worried. We looked at each other and told each other we didn't touch anything.

My friend pulls the screen out and the screen is even worse. Textures flying everywhere, the Video Lines popping in and out, it was awful. We just turned it off and on and it worked. She decided to keep the joycons on and one of them didn't work where she was sitting. She would try to walk, but Link would just stand there and when he did, he would go without her touching a button. She had to sit right in front of the console. Wow, Nintendo! You're doing a good job with the controllers.

We thought it would be better if we connected the controllers to the screen and bring it to us. It worked. She played for about an hour and the screen inverted colors, looking like a demonic mess! We tried to fix it, but nothing worked. We turned it off and on, we thought nothing would happen, but (To our sensitive ears) the damn thing started to flicker and make this noise. It was loud! Her dad in the garage heard it and the only thing we could compare it to is a VHS tape being ruined in a player! Her dad tried to turn it off, but it never did! It just kept making the noise for hours. It was day when that happened and it took her dad to call for a refund at Best Buy and it finally stopped at 8 PM at night. Dad comes in and tries to examine what's wrong with and grabs it out of the station thingy with Joycons. He pulls it out and found scratches on the screen and the damn thing slides off and hits the tile floor, leaving a large crack down the bottom right to the top left. We all screamed in fright and their thoughts on the Switch changed completely.. They got a full refund from Best Buy and offered a new console of their choice. I wonder how much he yelled at the manager. They settled with a PS4 Pro and they haven't had a problem with the console.

Now, I actually tried seeing what else is happening to the Switch. The first thing that came up was a compilation video of owners having problems with it. The one that we didn't experience was the attachment for the the Joycon. Apparently the thing get cemented on the damn thing making it impossible to take out! There are even results on youtube on how to deal with the problem without breaking the damn thing. I just don't get this, Nintendo knows they're a kid friendly company right? If you don't get the "+" and "-" you are f**ked! You know kids are getting this console, right? Kids are obviously going to get those confused!

Besides that, the console even has some "Error" problems. Shows everywhere that presented the console had the "An Error has Occurred!" pop up constantly as they played. This is one of the main reasons why I like to wait for things instead of eagerly hesitant to get the product. If you bought the console and haven't faced these problems, then you are one of the lucky ones. "Wait! What about the games? What do you think about that?" Well, I don't think much on those. I think Breath of the Wild is just enough for this to last the Fall. Yes, the game can get old, but it's Zelda, those games hardly ever get old. I do think the console having a bad launch with games is not promising and the fact that the console is going to have an Online Service can be disconcerting, but I believe the console (Besides the downfalls) is going to have a large line of games. I haven't seen Nintendo do that since SNES! Well anyways, I don't think the console is great. I do suggest to wait a bit (If you haven't bought it yet) and make sure the newer ones coming are better the launch product. I hope you liked this and 'til next time...
