My Thoughts on Prey

Prey was the game that made my childhood with the Xbox 360. It was a great game that just felt like Id's come back from Doom 3. The aliens felt so unique and the mechanics to show off the greatness of the game's capabilities was an generation defining game. Most people can say it's a re-skinned Doom 3, but it felt like something else. Once the sequel was announced and canceled too soon, we were introduced with a new "Re-imagining" of Prey a few years later. Most people were skeptical about the game, but the setting and the game's narrative felt so fitting to the game's title and to the last game. Well, so the people say. I, on the other hand, am still skeptical about the game because of its "Re-Imagining." Hello and welcome to this hatred thought blog series.

Now, the previous game was about a Native American being abducted by aliens and becoming genetically enslaved by them, you try to save your family and everyone you meet and escape the ship. The ship part was left in this newer one, but everything else is different. It's basically an experiment gone wrong situation with a few mind bending elements to it. Although it sounds great, but I see no correlation to the predecessor. "Just accept the change, StarterPack!" Yeah, the last time I did that, Fallout became a Borderlands clone. Still like the game. Anyways, I just see no reason to call it Prey, after the game that can define a generation, it just feels like a cash grab to me. "But Arkane is your favorite studio!" I know and how did you know that? No matter, it's just that I have a feeling that this is going to be another one of those "I want to completely change everything" type of choices for those who haven't played the first rendition.

"You're just worrying too much!" No! I'm perfectly fine with my opinion, I'm not caring too much about this title and the name of Arkane and the game that made me re-think my life... No! The point is that the game feels like something else than it should. "What does it feel like?" Another System Shock. "Shouldn't that be good?" Well, to an extent, but that wasn't how the game felt before. The first one gave off a special Original Half-Life feel to it, the strange aliens, the normal life that you once had in the beginning, it all felt so great and of it's own. This just looks like another mind bending, think-about-life-and-question-everything kind of game. "But isn't that what you love about most games, StarterPack?" Yes! I love it when a game makes you question your morals, but this game isn't suppose to be about that! It's suppose to show you the life of a regular person going completely upside down.

It's just, if I was apart of the development of this game, I would at least stay to it's roots, but change the story and how the game begins, to make it feel fresh, I would, speaking as a fan, keep the game's atmosphere there and change the story and the setting a little, the weapons you carry and make a completely new game instead of a mixture of Dishonored and System Shock. "StarterPack, I know you don't like change and all, the this game has a lead and looks to be the next game to take the Game of the Year award. Despite all the changes you dislike, you will enjoy the game more than you will think. The game has some elements you will enjoy and looks to have a story that will inspire you. The game will be great, although there will be some pet peeves you will not get over, but you will enjoy it like how you enjoy Doom."

Wow.... Well... You changed the mood of this blog. I thought you were the personality that I keep in my head to make fun of overly angry gamers and nerds. "I am, StarterPack. Still don't understand why you don't like Overwatch." Okay moving on! Well, those are my thoughts about the newest Prey coming soon. I might Pre-Order it, but that's up to my money at the moment, my sister still owes me money. Tell me if you understood my opinion of the game. If you couldn't tell, it's Mixed. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this crazy thought blog that I will soon regret posting, but 'til next time...
