Wait! If you are a fan of the game and don't wanna be insulted of my opinions, please leave now. If you dare try to read, please don't hurt me since these are just simple opinions instead of facts! I know the game is great, but seriously every game isn't perfect. Now to the blog! The game that completely changed the game's feeling and gave you something other than Fallout, we got a completely original game, New Vegas! That's not sarcasm. Hello and welcome to this thought blog!

I got this game before I played 3 and after I completed 2. I think I was about 10 or 12, but it was something to play as a kid with a PC. I got the Game of the Year version and played through the game's confusing narrative. You are a courier of the wasteland, sent to deliver a casino chip... Strange, I know, but it gets weirder! You are captured by a man in a checkered suit and shot by him in the head. How are you to progress in the story further? Well, him and his gang was so bad at burying you that your body could be found by a rundown robot! And it seems the guy who shot you wasn't good at making sure his ammunition was checked since the bullet shatter before exiting the barrel. You survive for some reason and are quested to find the man who shot you and complete your delivery that he stole from you.

Why does the chip have so much importance? Well, apparently the chip is a key to some kind of treasure. I don't know, I haven't gotten that far. Anyways, the treasure sounds nice and (if you play the Mr. House Route) you can see what that treasure is. The thing I disliked about the story was how many choices you had to explore it. Yes, that sounds great and all, but the way it's executed it awful. You want to see Mr. House? Well, you have to pay a thousand caps to get a pass in New Vegas or you can fight the robots and get in for free at the price of constantly getting attacked. Or you can join Caesar's Legion and achieve the chip forcefully at the price of looking like a Dictator, but you can do the main mission quicker! You can join the NCR, but you look like a corrupt government that will never restore peace and carry this burden for the rest of the game, but at least you look cool while doing it! You can join the Khan, but they are just too savage and look so primal and unintelligent while trying to rule the Mojave Desert, at least you got a cool name, though!

"Well, it's just so you can have a large diversity to the game's choices instead of having two to follow or not, StarterPack!" Well, my problem about them is that they aren't given to you properly. The main mission just forces you to meet them and it feels to odd. They aren't properly give to you and it just felt wrong when you are trying to do one storyline and forces you do to another to complete the one you are on! What Fallout 3 did was you are given the full extent of the brotherhood and are captured by the Enclave and given why the Enclave are fighting. As soon as you get both sides reasoning, you are given a choice to join either the Enclave or The Brotherhood. That is something that I actually liked about 3 that this game forgot to do. That's what made the game kind of confusing, the game wasn't straight forward with their factions and didn't give you the full picture.

If you look at it, the game was more of a Wiki search for you just so you can do what you want. Trust me, I had to open so many tabs as I played this game on each faction I met. If you want to enjoyed this game without a mind f*ck, then I suggest you keep that computer open for some long research. "Well, you have to talk about the gameplay, I mean, the story can't be the be-all in this, StarterPack!" Well, when you look at it, the gameplay is nothing but the story missions. Yes, you can play the game without doing that, but you will get some story out of everything you do. I mean, some side missions will either give you hints or information on the main missions.

And since you mentioned gameplay, if you played and liked the previous game, you might like it. Although changed to the new setting, the game is still pretty much the same with a western feel. "Don't you hate that, StarterPack?" Kind of. I don't know, the setting doesn't feel like Fallout at all, but I enjoy if you want to call it a spin-off. Anyways, the new thing to talk about is the bullets. If you are unfamiliar to guns, you might ask why is that a mechanic, but most guns have different rounds that do different things that either kill faster, destroy concrete or just do a small impact explosion. In this game, that kind of happens. There is some bullets that do more damage to armored enemies and some that take done cause more damage to those without. Kind of like what Bioshock did with the ammo change. The thing that sucks about it is that it takes one slot from your favorites. On console it's your D-Pad up, but I think it's your #1 key on the keyboard. I don't know, I had to stop on PC since it kept crashing on me.

That's the one thing I hated about the game. "But StarterPack, it's just one slot!" Well, one slot makes a difference! That just means on slot gone for one of my guns. Every time I had a better gun, I would debate with myself whether or not I should throw away this gun or this awesome gangster Tomson from the Future. It was just another mind f*ck for me to handle and I just hated dealing with it.

Along with that, there was the speechcraft in the game. What's wrong with it? Well, in Fallout 3, it was the same dialogue with a percentage of how successful it is, giving you small lucky chance for it to work. In this game, it's changed dialogue depending on your speech that gives you no chance for it to work! I always liked chancing myself for these and seeing that the dialogue either makes me sound stupid or just unprofessional! I remember the one thing that bothered me was when you are trying to get some free enhanced Leather Armor or something in New Vegas and the dialogue to persuade her at my rank was "I would liked to... See you... In leather!" I almost face palmed, but it was a good laugh. I just thought that it was kind of dumb for my character to have that as a thought... Don't judge how I think! At least it wasn't a fully failed attempt like how 3 did it where if you even tried, it wouldn't even let you try again. But it still has that happen in important conversations though. Plus this was taken into the newest game, Fallout 4, but it doesn't tell you how stupid it is.

Anyways, the game's guns are pretty diverse from the last game. There is a large variety of guns that have different effects and different abilities. Some you would only think the first game would have accomplished. To fit the game's western feel, there are some revolvers added to the game along with some Sci-Fi guns that look western as well as some of the guns from the last game. "Some?" Yes, some. The only one that I can for sure say is not in the game is the Chinese Assault Rifle. That was my favorite gun from the game and I wish they put it in. Yes, you can get it with mods, but I'm good with mods nor am I good with a computer back then.

And the one thing I can say for sure that sucks in this game is that the fallout feel just isn't present. I mean, some player can agree as well as having different opinions determined to your mindset. It was just too bright and sunny and the setting feels out of place to the franchise it holds. I mean new players can jump into this without feeling this, but god, it's hard to call this a Fallout game. Especially with the DLC's.

The DLC's was just off the tracks with the game's story with just something to explore after you did everything in the main game. The only ones that felt like it was meant to be in the game Honest Hearts and Lonesome road, but the other two were just going nowhere with the game. Old World Blues was like a Twilight Zone episode where your brain was taken out and replaced with a mechanical one as you are in this world with technology. I mean, the most disturbing thing about this DLC was the brain lords or whatever. You try to do their crazy deeds just so you can get your brain and when you actually find it, you have to argue with it and try to persuade it just so it can come back in that skull of yours! Try to up your speech and intelligence before do that, so you can properly persuade him without killing it, that is if you can handle how horrifyingly strange this DLC is.

And to move to the other strange one, Dead Money sounds great, but it oddly changes the game dramatically. It's not another world for you to explore, but a mission that strips you from everything you have just so you can go through this gauntlet just so you can get all this money and leave with your stuff back. I know the game gives you some new things to play with and a well earned reward, but the it is awfully hard to accomplish and frustrating to say the least. I mean, the game tries to be like Bioshock Infinite, and the game doesn't even fit with the setting of the DLC, I mean, this is an RPG, not a stealth shooter! This DLC does give you something as a reward to have and tons of money to carry in gold, but was it worth the trouble to go through that frustratingly awful labyrinth and maze to get all that? Can you even get all that gold? No! And you have a timer, so you can't just over encumber yourself to safety, so you to be smart about what you take and what you drop!  I don't know about you, but I didn't enjoy these DLC that much. I mean, Old World Blues was fun to mess around with and the DLC was very rewarding with the perks and abilities you can gain, but this has no other reward but money that you can't even carry! I really suggest you get to a higher level than 20 to start this DLC since it is a nightmare to handle.

The other ones were actually fun to explore, the Lonesome Road put you off your path, but it gave you a rich world that had new enemies to fight, new environment and new weapons to you. It kind of followed the main story, but it still had some exciting things to see and explore. The maps were well designed with some great loot to find. The highway part of the map was just fun to explore as you fought ghoulish enemies and get some rare Ranger armor. It even gave you a deeper look in the world that the previous games hardly even gave you.

Along with the Honest Heart, it gave you a new story mission that actually tells the story of a legend that the Caesar's Legion tells you. A famous general that was betrayed by his soldiers, burned alive and through in the grand canyon. I think this part of the game is pretty fun as you fight new looking enemies and get new weapons for you to play with. For the game's time, they designed the map very well with beautiful terrain and cool looking plants. The DLC is pretty tame with it's reward and gives you a large variety of choices to follow, but it pays well with it's loot.

Overall the game is hard to tackle when you are a long time fan of the game, but if you're new, it's pretty fun. I played on PC as a kid, but I really don't suggest it since it was pretty buggy with it's crashes and common glitches. The console version, I would have to say, is better since there is little to have trouble with. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this and 'til next time...
