I've always liked anime... Actually my dad introduced it to me, with Robotech and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, giving me a new fandom to carry. I've played Persona 5 recently and liked, the anime look was nice and the turn based gameplay was actually fun, not having a tedious and time consuming animation. I just loved it. As I played, looking at the artstyle it had, I thought of which anime would be a great game. Tons came to mind and most of which surprised they were without one. Hello and welcome to this countdown.
4. Cowboy Bebop
I don't know if I could count this since their is already a game of this great space opera, but the game was only ever released in Japan on the PS2. From what I read, the game got some good reception, having some decent ratings in Japan. It's long after the PS2, so why not have a remaster of the game on PS4, with the original voices from both dubs to support their roles such as Steve Blum or Koichi Yamadera as Spike.
From what I saw in gameplay footage, it's a beat'em up that feels a lot like a lost episode. I mean, there is more action than there is story, but it doesn't seem to break the source material at all. That game even seems to interest more than just the fan base, which would make this a possible sell if marketed right.
3. Parasyte
Many can argue that this show, like many, can be either better or worse than the Manga. I never read it, but the show is a very interesting horror, taking the idea of John Carpenter's The Thing and making it more morbid than the movie itself. I don't know if there's already a game out there about the anime, but from what I looked up, there's only simple flash games made by teenagers and fans.
I really don't know what the game would be, though. Maybe a hidden murderer kind of game, where you have to find out who has the Parasyte without killing anyone innocent. I don't know though, it would get boring fast, but the concept sounds like it could be expanded upon. You do a Parasyte vs. Parasyte battle, having abilities different each match, I don't know. Maybe just a horror game where you're just a simple human that has to run out a building full of Parasytes. The show has a lot to tread on with video games.
2. Space Dandy
He's a Dandy Guy... In Space... Same artist who did Cowboy Bebop, the show revolves around a Alien Hunter with a robot named QT and a cat alien named Meow who are trying to get money from registering unlicensed aliens. He goes around the galaxy doing nothing, but silly crap as he drifts completely away from his mission on finding an unlicensed alien. To most, there is nothing for there to work with as a game, but I think it would be a great idea to make a Telltale game around the character, having an episodic adventure through space as you go to a galactic Hooters called Boobies.
I think the developer would do nicely with this show, since they did a good job with Borderlands, the game that has nearly nothing to work with in terms of story. They would have lots of room to work with since each episode they die and start over in a different universe, so they can do anything they please without having to worry about the damaging the source material.
1. Wakfu
I might be breaking some rules on this one and making a lot of hardcore animes fans mad since this show is a French Animation. Just hear me out on this one. This show has some Japanese esque characters and artstyle, having a some liability to be on this list. Besides, the show would be a good RPG, having some elements and charm as Dragon Quest. Maybe some of the comedy and childness of Paper Mario.
I would love to see a game by this show, there is so much to work with in the game, having some potential to be successful and be a classic. Along with each unique character, seeing them in action would be both fun and heartwarming to me, especially for a children's game.
I hope you enjoyed this list. You don't know how hard this was, having to check my list of favorite animes and going through an enormous list of animes I never heard of just to see if they don't have a game and would make a good one. Kind of shows why it's so short. Sorry about that by the way. There is too many animes that have games already. Again. I hope you enjoyed this and if you know any that would make a good game, please tell me. I would actually love to see what I missed in those lists. 'Til next time...
