Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to my PUBG guide. I will be dividing this into three sections.
1. Loot
2. Shoot
3. Poot
Just kidding. The last section is general strategy and survival
Originally I wanted to make this blog only a weapons guide. Upon further consideration I realized I have sunk a better part of 2017 into the game, with over 350 hours logged and countless wins. I have also picked up a few tricks from pro players and popular streamers. Good luck out there soldiers, and may the tables turn in your favor.
A. Loot
There are now two maps in the game.
Erangel ->
And Desert map (myanmar)
First lets discuss drop locations.
There are only so many strategies to try regardless of location of drop.
Players will often try to..
-Go to only remote locations and lay low
-Go to high loot places and die or win
-Go to a medium sized town and play the game neither aggressively nor passively
Whatever strategy you choose, they all seem to work out roughly about the same. I have come to just accept the fact that you will have some bad runs in PUBG regardless of landing location. The best piece of advice I can give is play true to yourself. If you are good at combat, play aggressively to your strengths. Communicate with your team members beforehand about what strategies you will apply after each win/loss.
Even insane locations like hacienda, school, or military base will often give you level three equipment, gear, and suppressors. Weigh the risks. If you have baggage players, don't go to these locations. If you are a tight duo team, go to these locations and mop the floor. It really is up to you.
Crates: Odds are you will want to go after crates if they are within 2 squares distance away. Getting an m24 mid game can be a blessing or a curse. If nothing else, the crates are at least a nice adrenaline rush and change of pace. If you are an average player, I suggest veering away from crates in order not to get pinned down. Having the best weapon in the game means nothing if you can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Optimization: Run these settings if you have a beefy computer.
Textures: Medium -- Draw Distance: High/Ultra-- Shadows: Medium -- Post Processing and Anti Aliasing: High -- Everything else: Very low
I learned this trick from the YouTuber Aculite, and excellent player
If you have a poor computer, and are running at 1080p, try to upgrade the following.
-Intel core i5 4690k or above
-GTX 1070 or above
-AMD Cards are not well optimized at PUBG, use at your own risk.
When I started playing the game I gradually moved my way up from a radeon 290x, to a gtx 1080ti over the course of a year. When I moved to 4k res, my frames are hovering around 60. I actually recommend playing the game at a lower res/high refresh for best perf. Now let's move on, sorry about that long section.
Last tip: Loot the little green school classrooms in the desert map, and loot normal two story houses and garages and barns in the other map. They are often passed over, but just the normal houses have plenty of loot. Remember, killing other players that have looted everything for you already is a viable strategy. Apartments are generally death traps, so are large multi story buildings. Don't waste your time.
B. Shoot
I am going to list every gun that I can think of here. Prepare yourself. Fly you high, soldier. I had almost every single gun picture downloaded then realized I saved them on my other computer. Today text will suffice.
Assault..
M4: Get if you find this gun. Find all attachments and load it out. Having the M4 in weapon slot one should be your primary looting goal. It's damage, range, and handling are superb
AK: If you find this gun, considering using it as weapon #2. If you are some kind of beast at the AK, use it. It has incredibly high damage.. which is why pro players and streams like to get good at this and the Kar98
M16: Put on single fire and turn this into an accurate mid-ranger. Sadly, 8x will not work anymore
Scar: Get if you can't find the M4. Replace with M16 and AK unless good at AK
DP28: Meh, too experimental
M248: Too Rare. Get if near late game
Win94/Crossbow: Get but drop if you find a better weapon. Don't fool around unless you want a match just for lols, same advice for the crossbow.
SMG...
Vector: I used to say get but now I am not so sure. Keep it around if you find a suppressor, but otherwise assault gives you a vest advantage in range.
Really, this is my advice for every single SMG. Which is why I won't go over the other ones. Unless you are a complete idiot, the game heavily favors long range engagements, which in turn do not favor SMG's, but especially the mini uzi, is utter trash.
Shotguns..
Pick up the SK12 or the Double barrel, then switch out for AR later. The SK12 can oddly enough be fitted out with extended mag, suppressor, and red dot. It's pretty amazing. The trench gun or S118 or whatever is trash. Not only does it do low damage, it often misses wildly or gets stuck on half walls.
Snipers...
My personally favorite weapon in the game, they are highly lethal. In fact, most games I have won have been partially because of SR help late and mid game when clutching headshots are crucial.
Kar98: Get. Just get good at this weapon and horde it. Try using the cheekpad and a 4x, but if possible attach 8x.
SKS: This weapon conflicts the crap out of me. It is difficult to use. Unless you can add the attachments on to this, I would actually pass. I would rather have an AK. The SKS with a 4x has very high damage though.
The special crate snipers are beastly, the problem is you will never see them but 10-20 times in your life. Don't worry too much about them. The AWM and the M24 are both bolt action and easier to use than Kar98. Due to Kar98 using 7:62, the drop off rate is rather high. If you see targets far away, zero in to 200 meters and aim at the head. Generally, If you are close, the devs have decreased the drop of distance, so aim for the head and don't wait too long. The M24's bullets travel faster than Kar98. The AWM is simple, just aim for headshots or body shots and be generally good at leading targets.
Take the as many potshots as you can and suppress the target. Make the Target fear you, make them panic and look at you. This is when they will crouch in one place, or lean out from a tree. Then at that moment, take them and make them you b*tch.
Oh yeah and pistols? Screw those guns. Don't even bother, they are worthless garbage. Pick up only if desperate.
A lot of PUBG is trial and error. How will you get good at the game if you don't play many many matches? Play with a variety of different players and learn from them if they are good. Don't play with your dead weight ex wife or little cousin that REALLY wants to squad up with you. The most important aspect of PUBG is teamwork. It is a multiplayer co-operative shooter. Find a team memeber that likes to use his compass.. A LOT. Like make them call out. Make them tell you pertitant info. If you can't handle the heat, get of the kitchen. Don't play with players that rage quit or get frustrated easily.
And while we are on the subject of general gameplay...
please, for the love of Gadka, use your manners. Cursing obscenely or begging for help, getting mad at your team members for not saving you or shouting in your mic will grant you a teamkill. Additionally, use call outs like...
GOOD: "I see a target NW330 degrees, behind the red barn"
BAD: I see someone in the trees over there RIGHT OVER THERE"
Good: "I found an extra level three backpack over here second story, I marked it for you"
BAD: "Wow I just found a pistol and shotgun" "Oh yeah I just found a level one vest" "Hey Mike do you want my bandages" Ect. This is not the type of game to chitchat. You need to shut the freak up and only talk during appropriate quiet moments. Do not talk about real life situations when you are in a firefight. I feel like this is common sense, but 99% of the playerbase will pull this crap, don't be one of them.
Also, when you are calling out moving targets. The appropriate verbatum would be "I see jeep true north on the highway moving left to right heading towards the blue houses"
irrelevant information.. "I see 3 dudes with shotguns, snipers, and high level gear going down the road near the woods and they're honking, LOL"
Using terms like "Lateral" is utter nonsense, it's right to left, left to right, moving away from us, coming towards us. No one will understand you if you talk like a 5th grader. You need to treat this like you are in the military getting ambushed by ICIS. Also, it is rather confusing if you say they are 50 meters away from us, since no on in the USA uses the rest of the worlds measurement system. You will have to use your imagination and be more descriptive than that.
Stay out of vehicles and driving them around the whole game. Use vehicles to get a location, do not "patrol." Now that they have added vaulting, it's much harder to run over other players. Usually, just the element of surprise will work in your favor when rushing a squad, then getting out and using your vehicle for cover.
I think this wraps up the section on shooting.
If you are looking for attachment advice look no further.
The ranking is like this:
Cheekpad > Bullet loops
Vert Grip > Angled Grip
Suppressor>Flash Hider>Compensator
Extended Quickdraw>Extended>Quickdraw.
Scopes: 15x>8x>4x>red dot>2x>Holographic
Don't take this too literally. A better "Configuration" would be to have two AR's with one red dot one 4x, or 1 SR 1AR with an 8x and a 4x. Arrange whatever combinations you have logically. Anything over 2x on SMG is pointless, and anything below 2x on SR is pointless. Get lucky and kill people if you want good scopes
C. Poot
Part of the game is dying, a lot. My final advice for survival..
1. Engage at your own risk
Are you looking for trouble? Don't be. Running up on a multi-team firefight often results in the defending team wiping your squad too. Fire at people only if you must.
2. Get to the center quicker.
Listen I know there are people there. There are people everywhere. Near mid-game, high tail it over there to the center. Dying to the blue zone, red zone, or getting pinned outside will ruin your night.
3. Near the end game, try as much as you can not to hide behind one rock
It's quite easy to just think camping will win every game. Sometimes it does, but sometimes you must take the leap of faith and see them before they see you.
I hope my guide helped the struggling players out there, and advanced those who play the game often a little further. Hit me up for squads or duo's.
Getting good at the game may require you to just play until you get a win. NEVER GIVE UP
Peace
-Boo
