The title isn't supposed to be a stupid opinionated thought about the community or anything, just some things I want to point out about the site technical standards and how user-friendly it is and what’s wrong with them. I’m not going to go off on a tangent about how the site is horrible, I don’t don’t intend to offend the staff or moderators here. I just want to make some critical points as to why some things need fixing or some of it needs to change. And just so you know, if you think I know everything there is about this site, I don’t know every nook and cranny of this place, so if I make a statement that is wrong please take it with a grain of salt or correct me in a constructive way. Anyways, I hope you enjoy and see some of the problems I point out.

Short Blog Section

The one problem people face when posting as a new user here is that they sometimes overshadow people here. Some people will a more constructive mind to put together many blogs at once in a single day than others. It takes away some of the fame of other users that are as passionate about writing as you are, but what if there were a lot of people on here that post one blog a day and it overshadowed even though they are following the rules? Doesn’t seem much of a problem since it stacks on top of each other to create this long line of posts, but that long line is considerably short. The posts end at twelve posts and leave this really large white gap between the bottom of the page and the last post. If you go to the feed to check out news stories and reviews, the max is 25 posts and there is no free space in between the bottom and the last post. Why can’t we have the max of 25 posts for our blog sections? I know this may lead to some kind of a misunderstanding, but if you moderators are reading this, please tell me if there is a reason as to why it’s so short.

Guides Sound Fun

Guides seem like a good opportunity for people to share their ways of playing a game their way or just walkthroughs for people struggling on a certain level in a game or how to prevent certain glitches from happening. It can also be like Steam Questions where you can ask the community questions on how to do anything in game or on the site. That can also be a thing, have a guide on how to post blogs on this site and perfect ways to get a professional looking blog out. These all sound like a good idea and would be a new tab for users to check on besides the feed or blogs, but there is no way how to do this nor do I see one prompted on the profile page. That’s probably another thing for mods or every experienced veteran to correct me on, so please tell me if I’m missing something. But even then, why haven’t I seen them? Why aren’t they a feature for the users to see on display and read through? And am I even getting the right idea for these things? See! I want to know what this is for!

Along with that, the Review section seems to be a useless part of the profile page since a blog can be seen that expresses how you feel about a game instead of hiding it behind your profile for no one to see or for people who actually take the time to write one on a GI Review. Just take it out or something. Just seems like an empty space that doesn’t need to be there.

Notifications

This is a major problem on this site if you haven’t noticed. I talk to people on here a lot and we talk to each other to the point we can’t keep track of many conversations and because of the buggy notification system, a lot of those conversations are missed or responded to late. There is the Following option when you receive a friend request, but even that’s glitchy. Even comments on my profile or even replies are seemed to be ignored by the site’s notification system. Please implement a following system and that allows me to turn it off notifications for a specific person or allow me to see things in an update feed, like back in the day when you wanted to see some recent actions that you were involved in. If there is an explanation as to why this is a thing please tell me, I would love to know as well as many other people here.

Poor Search Update.

I remember whenever I wanted to look someone up or at least a club that I would love to be in, I would go to the search bar on the top right corner of the home screen and the Users relating to what I searched, the blogs and even the articles would show up in categories. Now, the only that comes up is the articles only if you look up the game, subject, person or author of the article. There are no categories, just a long list of things you don’t want. What happened and why did it change to this? It was very convenient to see all these results in an orderly fashion that made it felt easy to search for almost anything. If you ever wanted to read people’s opinions on a certain game or see a person’s work through their blogs, you saw it all through this! Now, it’s bland and hardly anything you want comes up.

This was such a great feature! Why was it downgraded to a poorly designed search system? I’m sorry if I’m insulting the person who made the new search system, it just doesn’t scale to what the previous one was.

Well, I hope this was enlightening for how little I talked about. If there are any more wrong with the site please say so in a constructive manner. Mods are probably reading this, so that can help… Maybe. I’m not even sure if this will help remotely, but I just wanted to clarify a few problems with this site that I saw need some fixing. I mean, moderators can completely ignore this and think I’m trying to get attention or being a troll, but at least I tried. Again, I hope you enjoyed this and ‘til next time…
