Captain America: Civil War Review - Spoilers: It Needs More Work... And Thought

Oh, the age of where the greatest and best comics you read are becoming a cinematic movie is awesome. Well, most of the time. To be honest, I'm going to state nothing, but what's wrong with this movie and don't expect me to hold back on any spoilers.

Now, I love the comics Civil War. The only thing I disliked about the comics was how it originally ended, which I hope that's not how this ends in the next movie. The people interrupt them in a fight and tell them to stop and Tony and Captain start to shake hands on it. God! I'm glad they're rebooting the series so early! Anyways, the movie made me rethink how comic movies should be. Not in a good way. There is very little memorable moments, the dialog sometimes doesn't connect, there is too much comedic relief that doesn't connect to the conversation or any clever executions , and the only thing to save it all is the action and character reveals.

Okay, I didn't really like this movie, I'm going to say that. But It's not bad enough to say it's as awful as Superman V. Batman. It's just the scenes didn't really make sense to me most of the time. Okay, to start, I'm going to talk about the dialog in the movie.

The conversations were interesting, but not amusing. I could not stop dazing out in there conversation about how Captain America is a criminal or if the Doctor is getting these super soldiers to command. And sometimes the dialog would shift to some joke or something for the fans to laugh at when it definitely didn't belong!

For example, Captain America talks to this one blond chick that has no name, brings The Winter Soldier and Falcon with him. Cap was out of the car and the two other guys were in this small Volks Wagon Bug. Cap and the unknown chick starts to talk tactics and after on sentence, it cuts to Falcon sitting in the front and Winter Soldier in the back. In all grudge and grief, Winter Soldier says "Can you move the seat up?" with Falcon replying "No." Was that suppose to be funny? That's just a small question answered. It just felt out of place. Like it was an actual question by the actor, not the character.

The only one that did belong was at the end where Postman Stanley calls Tony, Stank instead of Stark. And it was the only one I laughed at! Did the writers have all the comedy put onto that line? What the heck! And like I said, it's not memorable. Not at all. I mean there is some lines that might give you goosebumps, but I don't really remember if there was one. And there was so much talking! Too much to the point you wanna ask the theatre to forward the movie! I know, dialog has character development, but this had no indication of any character development. I mean, when Tony talks to Spiderman/Parker was packed with some development, but it felt some stages of the movie was over flowing.

Now onto a different problem, the characters. They seemed a bit stale. Like they had some bad taste to them that I could get out of my mouth. As I said, there is a lot of dialog, but little character development. I mean, in the beginning, there is a terrorist attack and some new character that seems to suppose to be someone familiar, but I, the guy who reads comics and researches them, didn't know that man in the skull mask would seem like he suppose to be a friend to Captain America, but I could recognize him! Oh, wait... He was an experiment with Winter Soldier, training to be one just like him... And he dies before he can reveal anymore character... Nice work Writers!

And who is this Doctor character? I don't know why he's doing all this stuff and you are left in wonder until he plays that recording of his wife, but you are still confused if that is a recording because it's on his phone! Okay, I know this is a scene that suppose to tug our heart strings, but you left in a state of confusion to even think of what's going to happen next. I really wish this worked, I mean this would have made me rethink of this odd character, but it was poorly executed.

Okay, for the play off, the action scenes were the only good part, but even that had mistakes! I mean, I love how Spiderman stated that Captain America's shield breaks the laws of physics, but everything else was just hard to get all at once. To be honest, the extra heroes were not well spent. They had simple fights and sometimes you confused who was fighting for who. One time, I thought Ant Man was fighting for Captain American, then I saw him fighting someone on Cap's side and made me  questioned who was fighting for who. And what's funny is that when Tony has a truce with Cap finally, he finds footage of The Winter Soldier killing his parents. And some how that got them to break the truce and try to kill each other. I just want to see a reasonable fight with actual accurate reactions!

But I must say there were actual heartwarming or heartbreaking moments that made me almost gasp.Moments that were redeemed to make this movie great. When Warmachine was shot down, I felt the tension. I was almost devastated to see him taken out like that and knowing he was almost paralyzed from the waist down. When Vision was betrayed by Scarlet Witch, that scene made feel bad for him. It put actual character into what he was becoming. Him feeling his first betrayal. His trust being broken. That's how a movie gets good, but this movie fell flat, but still seems to be good.

I have no hate for anyone who love this movie, I really don't. So those of you who think this is bull, know that this is just an opinion of mine. If you liked it, then good for you. You enjoyed something that I couldn't. So this is my meaningless opinion of this movie, for how the story drove me, I would give it a solid 6/10 and a 8/10 for great tension and movie follow-up. Hope you enjoyed this review and as usual...
