Overwatch has become of one of the best games out there within the few days it's been shown to the public in 2014. The story is great as well as the game itself, but what good are they together? I mean, there is a deep and powerful narrative in the story, but the game seems to ignore the story and become a team-based shooter. Hello Wandering Traveler and welcome to this blog explaining what is involved in Overwatch's story to it's game.
The cinematic shorts from the beginning of 2015 was a very deep scoop of what the game is about and what you should know about the characters themselves. The Dragon short as well as the Last Bastion short were some of the most emotion of what we got. We got a deep, relatable, and loveable character out of all of the characters. They seemed like they would create a great movie put in the right direction, but what does this have to do with Cap the Point and Push the Cart?
The game was well advertised, but had little to do with the gameplay. What was in the payload? Why are we taking this point? What does all this have to do with the story that we were presented before launch? Even during the Beta's launch, I expect to see some of a relation to the story we were given, but all we got was about three game modes that didn't really seem fun at first.
Trust me, I love this game. It's really fun and the characters are so easy to get use to, but I want to see what might happen with the game's characters at hand. Make a game mode called "Heroes and Villains" where the villains in the game like Reaper, Junkrat and Widowmaker fight the heroes such as Bastion, Winston and Soldier 76 and you have to kill each other until all of one team is dead as the victory screen says Villains Win or Heroes Win. I would love to see that! That would be great!
Because of the lack of story, the players demand to see more of it. It is requested more than new characters in the game! A full length movie could be great with this, or maybe a TV show just to give it to the fans, but instead we get a comic. It's still a great thing, but not what we expected. That showed us more about the characters and why they are fighting and it seems like more questions are being asked after each issue. I know there was an Omni Crisis, but who is the threat? Is it Blackwatch trying to take their name to a horrifying height? Or is it that some of the Overwatch members are dying constantly over an unknown threat? We are never informed by this, but we are still enjoying the stories Blizzard has to tell.
Besides that, I am still confused on why the Overwatch characters are called by Winston. There is little evidence on who their enemy is. There has to be an enemy and from what we have, Blackwatch is is the villains, but I'm not sure. Seriously, if any of you guys know anything about this, please tell me!
The game is now getting old, if you haven't noticed, and the hype for a new character named Sombra is still lingering in the minds of the players, so something new might give us a bigger take on the game, or a reveal of new plot of the story is shown in the game's map like how TF2 did with the rumors of Mann Vs. Machine in their maps. Blizzard, we need something new and something to give us fans a new reason why these Overwatch guys are fighting and why they are called to action by Winston. I really hope they bring out more on this story and I hope you guys somewhat enjoyed this. "Til next time...
