Top 5 Game Theories Debunked by the Developers

When we play a complicated game like Fallout or Zelda, people begin to question and theorise about what might be going on. Some are debunked calmly and respectively, but some are just destroyed by the developers. Hello and welcome to this breakdown of the 5 game theories debunked by the developers.

5. Ana is Not Elizabeth

After the game, Bioshock Infinite, people had many questions to ask about the game. The one that people asked was 'Who was Elizabeth's Mother?' People began to take information provided in the game and made a theory that said Ana wasn't Elizabeth, but her mother. There were files on the desk of Booker's office and on the loading screen that said someone was missing and the name only showed one letter: A. People said it was Ana and Booker was crying out her name instead of his daughter. And the girl was suppose to be Ana, aka Booker's Wife, not Elizabeth.

The theory wasn't shown to the developers, but they proved it wrong when they released the episodic DLC, Burial at Sea. Spoilers: when the Booker you're as is revealed as Comstock, he calls Elizabeth Ana. Making everyone who believed this theory look like a fool.

4. Dom and Marcus Brothers?

A lot people believed that Marcus and Dom from Gears of War was brothers. Since the third installment had Marcus call him a brother after (Spoilers!) he dies. For all we know, Marcus might have considered him a brother. Although, Gears of War 2 has Dom call Marcus' father his dad instead of just calling him simply dad. Players have believed this until an interview with the developers a few months after the Gears 4 announcement, a person asked them if they were brothers. They said they act like brothers, but aren't related in anyway. Still doesn't take away the sadness about Dom's death.

3. Starkiller is Obi Wan's Son

What I can say about this is very strange and too up front to be true. The famous and stupid (in my opinion) theory was the one that stated Obi Wan had a son and gave him to a fellow Jedi. I don't see how that's possible since Obi's love was killed during Order 66.

For a long while, this was believed to be true and it stuck until the announcement of Force Unleashed 2. The game wasn't showing any story or any evidence to this theory, but the developers had a Q&A with the fans. Why are these things debunked by the developers in person most of the time? Anyways, a person talked about this theory and asked them if they could prove it too be true. They looked at each other and told the fans it was entirely false. Although, it was proven, the fans still take this theory to be true. When will this be dropped?

2. Bigfoot in GTA

People have believed it and searched for him for years in the games. It was almost like the real thing! People searched and searched and found nothing. The woods were cleaned as players thought he was in the sewers or at camps near the forest. They could not find him or any evidence he was in the game. The developers soon announced (After years since the birth of the mystery) that the furry beast with large feet was not in the game. To make this theory to stay alive, people went as far as to mod a Bigfoot in the game and post it on social media.

Although, it was all a hoax in the game, at least the developers thought it would be fun to include him in the newest game.

1. It's Just a Thumbs Up

Players have questioned a lot about Fallout, but the one thing that got fans and players alike think was the game's logo of Vault-Boy giving a thumbs up and a wink. People began to take a theory that he was measuring a mushroom cloud with his thumb. This was a way to see if you were save from a nuclear blast or bombing. If the mushroom was bigger than your thumb, you should run. If the mushroom was smaller than your thumb, than you are safe, giving the reason why he is winking.

During a interview with the lead artist and developer of the game, a fan asked him if this theory was true. Since he heard this theory for about three years and (at the time) didn't have a way to tell everyone at home, he sighed and said, "It's just a thumbs up."

This is the list! I hope you somewhat like this. It was a hard one that had to be overly researched as I finished my homework. I was planning to make this a top 10, but couldn't find many debunked theories out there. Again I hoped you liked this read and 'til next time...
